Discernment admist the Chaos
PART 2
As I was asking the Lord where to go granularly during my off days in the spring, I kept running into old friends whom I encouraged to do for themselves what they needed and to pursue resources. My prospects for income fell through when summer started, and this landed me in little meetings on bus rides and random encounters while riding my scooter around town. This led several people to show up at the Local Rescue mission alongside me.
At first, I just thought of it as a coincidence, then one by one, old friends started showing up. My old neighbor, whom I had not seen in several years. Another man who got frostbite that I used to share drugs with in the past, when I was in a rut. They were all in need and lacking. I started sharing my resources with them and encouraging all the emergency guests with pamphlets from the local social services offices. Some of those were inspired to look for work, and others were stranded on the north side of town, where the shelter is located.
One man in particular was a Shaman, skilled in prophetic visions and in discerning spiritual atmospheres in certain areas. He also probably attracted all kinds of spirits that were looking to enter into him and irritate the others to pursue their desire and temptations, sitting in the root of our flesh. We had conversations, then I realized he was the same man I had met on a local park bench down the road in the spring (see Part 1). This traveling Shaman became sort of a leader type, as he had skills and talents that enabled others to feel at ease with the intoxicating effects of desire and sin. Local pow wows started happening at the park as temptation made its way to intoxication, and the effects of the spirits in that hotspot increased to a frenzy only held at bay by moments of truth and the creator's guiding hand.
I had resorted to survival mode and was only pursuing tasks that would snowball later into a way out. Going around the city and collecting information to use later to get myself out of this rut. Thankfully, due to God's great hand and love for me, He touched the hearts of those who found the encouraging word a blessing in the past. Soon, in moments of spiritual warfare from the Shaman and amidst confusion and chaos in the shelter, I started receiving text messages and Discord messages of encouragement, lining up with my place in God's hand as a born-again speaker of truth and exhortation. The uplifting messages received refreshed me greatly as the Lord reminded me through others that I was not alone, and I have changed from my old self.
A wonderful offer was made to fly me out north for the summer for some much-needed rest and relaxation, and to hopefully continue my ministry duties to this online community that I fell in love with. A series of blessings and events led me to receiving a 30-day bus pass from a stranger and also a check to pay for a REAL ID to get the flight logistics figured out. Now I only need to wait till after the holiday to go visit my wonderful uplifting friends on the West Coast.
To be continued!
