Widows and Orphans
I had a wonderful experience of Divine timing!
I was scooting around a couple of weeks ago and went to a local gas station up north. I was asking the Lord to guide me around that afternoon, granularly. Like "Lord, should I go left here?" Just trusting that even if He wasn't really showing me, my acknowledgment and trust in Him would allow me to minister to whoever I ran into.
After sitting on the bench for a while. This girl came up and sat down on the ground next to me. I let her know that if she wanted, I would get up so she could sit on the bench. As she sat down, I noticed she was actually very young. I talked to her and asked if she was okay. She apparently had run away from home. I took her inside, bought her some food, and noticed a police officer inside. I let him know I was not sure what to do with 15-year-old girls who are runaways. He ended up talking to her and took her back to her foster care home.
She is an orphan.
A few nights ago, I was bored again and started asking the Lord where to go. At first, I was going to go to this local music bar and listen to music. So I went, and it was country, and I was not enjoying it. I asked the Lord where to go again, and these benches with an umbrella popped into my mind. I had sat there before, and it was a nice night. It was at the Kwik Shop just up the street.
I scooted there, sat down, and prayed to the Lord to send me someone to talk to. After sitting there for about 20 minutes with no one coming, I decided to get up and go home. As I was walking to the other side, debating whether I was going to go into the Kwik shop and get a drink. I noticed a person sitting on the ground outside rocking back and forth, and I walked up to her. It was a girl wearing a wolf mask. I asked her if she was okay and introduced myself. It was the same girl!
Her code name is Echo! haha. I bought her some food again and entertained her for about an hour. Then asked her if she wanted to go home now. She really didn't want to, but said it would be okay if I called the police and had them take her back to her foster parents' house.
I got to encourage her to read the Bible. She had been reading Exodus, and I showed her a cool video about some archaeological sites that some scholars think might be Mt. Sinai. I encouraged her to try to make Christian friends and read John next! She seemed open to it, and the police showed up and took her home!
God is good! It seemed He put it on my heart to go find her, talk to her again, and encourage her to keep pursuing Him, and allowed me to display His kindness through my actions.
Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.-James 1:27
