The Cure for Anxiety and Depression.
The Cure for Anxiety and Depression.
I have overcome anxiety and depression with the help of biblical truths and an investigative practice of 'taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.
2nd Corinthians 10:5
5 We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,
The main idea is that we have thousands of thoughts that come through our mind every day. We need to practice analyzing those thoughts and seeing if they are coming from God or not. This is similar to cognitive behavioral therapy with taking thoughts captive.
For example. If you have a depressive thought that you are not a good person and you have done bad things in the past. Then you should take that thought captive and analyze it. Realize that Jesus died for all of our sins and he knew since the beginning of time that we would commit all those sins. He is GOD and has the power to forgive all those sins and has already done so.
So we simply say in our minds:
"Father I am sorry for sinning and I know that you have forgiven me, please take these thoughts away and remind me that I am your child and give me your peace and joy that you promised! Thank you! Praise the Lord. I love you!"
This is an act of obedience and worship to rely on the Lord with all our might!
You should start doing this one thought at a time until it becomes a habit.
Your entire mental life will change and you will be overwhelmed with peace and joy!
Then you can replace those thoughts following the scripture below:
Philipians 4:8-9
8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 What you have learned[a] and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
So you capture negative thoughts to the obedience of Christ, then you focus on the experience and peace and joy of God, Paul actually promises in verse 9 that if you practice his teachings then the God of PEACE will be with you.
